Breaking Down Industry Boundaries

The Korea AI & Robotics Industry Association (Chairman Oh Joon-ho, Samsung Electronics) recently held its board meeting and appointed Hyundai Motor Company (vice-chairman), Qualcomm Technologies Inc. (director), and Stats ChipPAC Korea (regular member) as new executive and regular members, it was announced on October 15.

With this new membership, Hyundai Motor will participate directly in the association’s operations and key initiatives, Qualcomm will serve as a director driving technology collaboration and policy proposals, and Stats ChipPAC Korea will contribute as a regular member with expertise in semiconductor backend processing.

“Hyundai Motor, Qualcomm, and Stats ChipPAC Korea, along with other globally innovative companies representing each industry, have come together at the association,” said Baek Seok-tae, standing deputy chairman.

Industry Synergies Expected to Reach New Heights

The addition of Hyundai Motor, a global leader in complete vehicles and robotics; Qualcomm, which holds on-device AI and semiconductor technology; and Stats ChipPAC Korea, a global leader in semiconductor backend processing, is expected to create maximum synergy by dismantling barriers between automotive, semiconductor, AI, and robotics, and significantly expanding Korea’s AI-robotics ecosystem.

The association will actively promote ▲ policy and institutional improvements for industry development ▲ activation of AI-robotics new-industry proofs of concept (PoC) ▲ global market entry support ▲ and discovery of cross-industry fusion collaboration models.

Key Initiatives:
• Policy and institutional improvements for industry development
• Activation of AI and robotics new-industry proofs of concept (PoC)
• Global market entry support
• Discovery of cross-industry fusion collaboration models

2026 RoboWorld: A Global Opportunity

Meanwhile, the Korea AI & Robotics Industry Association will hold its flagship domestic robot exhibition, RoboWorld 2026, from November 4 to 7. Major Korean and international companies including Rainbow Robotics, RobotiZ, DN Solutions (formerly Doosan Machine Tools), Advantech (NVIDIA partner), Wanhak, Unitree Robotics, and Booster Robotics will participate in a scale of over 400 companies and 1,100 booths.

Planned interviews by overseas media including CNN, The New York Times, and ABC News are expected to serve as an important opportunity to highlight the technological capabilities of Korean AI-robotics companies and the global standing of “K-Robot.”

AI & Robotics Convergence: Building Korea’s Global Leading Ecosystem

Under the leadership of its new executive and regular members, the association will closely communicate with member companies nationwide, promote convergence of AI and robotics technologies, and work to create a sustainable ecosystem that enables Korea to lead the global AI-robotics market.
